Behind the cockpit - Introduction

Hello everyone,

My name is Skynet and I am a currently studying cybersecurity and threat management. Previously I have worked as a fraud analyst in the financial sector for 3 years. In the vast expanse where politics, diplomacy and technology converge, few realms are as consequential as the world of aviation. As these cutting edge machines soar through the skies, they convey more than just military might and technological dominance; they embody the intricate dance of geopolitics and national security.

In "Fly-by-Insights" we explore these beautiful machines and explore the geopolitics behind some of the most strategically significant fighter jets. While I do not have a degree in politics, I enjoy being an armchair general. As such, there is no need to be hateful in the comments. We should all have a safe space to discuss our ideas.

I take best efforts to post accurate information by cross confirming data and people who have experience. However, I am human and can occasionally make mistakes. For that, I want to apologize in advance. Please bring my errors to my attention and I shall be more than happy to correct them.Since this blog is a conversation and not a monologue, your thoughts, questions and perspectives are welcome and are essential. So, faster your seatbelts and let's take a flight into this world together!

My top 5 favorite fighter jets (in no particular order):

Indian Air Force legend, the MiG - 21

MiG 21 (one of the most mass produced fighter jet)

American Top Gun, the F-14 Tomcats

F-14 Tomcat (One of the best variable geometry fighter jet)

American silent assassin, the F-22 Raptor

F-22 Raptor (the first fifth generation fighter jet)

The versatile Swedish JAS-39 Gripen

JAS-39 Gripen (one of the best light single engine fighter jet, very economical)

Balancing the hegemony, Russian MiG-35

MiG 35 (one of the most beautiful looking 4++ gen fighter, very agile)

Honorable mentions: Su-35 (too large for my taste. Size isn't everything guys), F-15EX (beautiful fighter jet, bomb/missle truck; I didn't want to select more than 2 fighter jets from a country), Mirage 2000 (legendary delta wing design and one of the most versatile multirole fighter), YF-23 (never inducted/project cancelled), Avro Arrow (never inducted/project cancelled)
